Four Oaks Cottage is a spacious, characterful self-catering holiday cottage near Carlisle, located on the Four Oaks Estate in the peaceful farming village of Cargo. It’s ideal for families or groups seeking a relaxed countryside stay with plenty of outdoor space.

The cottage sleeps up to 8 guests + 2 infants across 4 bedrooms. Outside, you’ll find a large private garden with countryside views, a children’s playground and plenty of entertainment, including a hot tub under a gazebo (with weatherproof and privacy curtains), a full-size outdoor ping pong table, and a giant football pool on an artificial grass area. Patio furniture and a BBQ complete the space, making it perfect for evenings spent outside.

Cargo is a small village surrounded by the River Eden, set just 3 miles northwest of Carlisle. Only a 10-minute drive to Gretna Green, Scotland or 30-minute to Penrith and the Lake District.

This makes Four Oaks Cottage a convenient base for countryside breaks, family holidays and group stays in North Cumbria.

• Bedroom 1: Bunk bed (suitable for adults/children), wardrobe with built in drawers, vanity unit.
• Bedroom 2: Larger bedroom, Zip-and-link beds (twin or super king), solid oak wardrobe with drawers, vanity unit.
• Bedroom 3 (Master): Zip-and-link beds (twin or super king), solid oak bedside tables with LED lamps, wardrobe, solid oak chest of drawers, feature fireplace.
• Bedroom 4: Narrow bedroom, Zip-and-link beds (twin or super king), mirrored wardrobe, large window overlooking the garden.

Inside the Cottage

The family bathroom features a walk-in shower, separate bath, and vanity unit, with an additional downstairs toilet for convenience.

The cosy lounge includes a large corner sofa, a log burner, a 55-inch TV with DVD player, and a selection of board games and toys. The oak dining table seats 8, making it a great spot for shared meals.

The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering, including a fridge-freezer with water dispenser, electric fan-assisted oven and separate grill, ceramic hob with an extraction hood, built-in microwave, integrated dishwasher, washing machine, condenser dryer (located in the downstairs toilet), and a wine chiller fridge.

Parking, Family Facilities and Pets

Private parking is available for 2 cars. Extra parking spaces may be available on request.

High chairs and a travel cot are available for families, upon request.

Please note the Host has a strict no-parties (hen/stag included) policy. Our units are primarily designed as a second home for the Hosts and their family. It is therefore a property pre-eminently suited to pre-formed groups (which shares characteristics with a single household group) and family booking – as opposed to multiple lets which are not permitted at this property.
