Four Oaks Cottage is a spacious, characterful self-catering home on the Four Oaks Estate in the farming village of Cargo, just outside Carlisle. It’s ideal for families or groups seeking a relaxed countryside stay with plenty of outdoor space.
The cottage sleeps up to eight guests across four flexible bedrooms. Outside, you’ll find a large private garden with countryside views, a children’s playground, and plenty of entertainment including a hot tub under a gazebo (with weatherproof and privacy curtains), a full-size outdoor ping pong table, and a giant football pool on an artificial grass area. Patio furniture and a firepit complete the space, perfect for evenings spent outside.

Inside, the family bathroom features a walk-in shower, separate bath, and vanity unit, with an additional downstairs toilet for convenience. The cosy lounge includes leather seating, a log burner, a 55-inch Smart TV with DVD player, and a selection of board games and toys. The oak dining table seats eight, making it a great spot for shared meals. The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering, including a fridge-freezer with water dispenser, oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, condenser dryer, and a wine chiller.
Private parking is available for two cars, with extra spaces on request. High chairs and a travel cot are available for families, and the cottage is pet-friendly.

Deposit: 25% due at booking, with the remaining balance and £1,000 refundable security deposit due 4 weeks before arrival.
Hot Tub: Included in the price and available year-round. Please note, the hot tub turns off at 9:30pm to ensure peace and quiet for the village.
Dogs: Dogs welcome at £20 per dog, per stay.
Kitchen Essentials: Tea towels, washing-up liquid, dishwasher tablets, and basic cooking items provided.
Linen & Towels: Beds made up with fresh linen and towels. Please bring your own towel for the hot tub.
Short Breaks: Available with 3-night minimum stays, Monday or Friday arrivals. Full weeks run Monday to Monday or Friday to Friday. For bespoke dates, please contact us.
Peaceful Stays: To help everyone enjoy a peaceful stay at Four Oaks Estate, we ask guests to respect our no-parties policy, including hen and stag groups. Our homes are best suited to families and pre-formed groups staying together, and we kindly request that outdoor areas are kept quiet after 9:30pm.

Four Oaks Cottage is located just outside Carlisle, with easy access from the M6. Gretna Green is just a 10-minute drive, and the Lake District is only a 30-minute drive away, making it an ideal base for exploring the best of Cumbria.

What our guests say
We got back from Four Oaks Cottage yesterday and had an absolutely brilliant stay. The cottage was lovely, had lots to do and had so many nice touches. Our group particularly enjoyed the hot tub and the football pool. Host was so responsive beforehand helping with any queries really felt like nothing was too much trouble. Lots of great things to do nearby, we hired the local swimming pool, went to Game On to play bowling, digital darts, curling, mini golf etc which was brilliant and also visited Walby Farm nearby. Just a great time had by all ages and we would love to go back xx
We are just back from a 2 night stay at Four Oaks cottage with family. We had a great time, the cottage was conveniently located for amenities- we visited the city centre for shopping and took the kids to Walby. Hosts were very responsive when needed and the cottage was well equipped. We loved the hot tub the most! May consider visiting again next Summer. Thank you!
This holiday cottage was brilliant. The kids loved the garden and the hot tub. I have a 7 year son who is highly autistic and he adored it as well. The rooms are big - loads of room to spread out with us being a family of 6. Think the bbq set up is great as well where there is a separate fence with a locking gate so the kids couldn’t get in when the bbq was on - especially handy with my son! Made me feel safe to use it. Definitely will be visiting again.
